Our Cafe is recruiting for volunteers!

The Cafe TeamThe Copper Beech Café (more affectionately known as the Museum Café!) is a vibrant, buzzing hub of socialisation offering a fabulous dining spot not only for those who are visiting the Museum but also for our local and regular customers. The Team is dynamic, forever improving and always striving to provide that world-class customer service to match the delicious and memorable menu offerings – and we are recruiting for volunteers to join the Team!

Volunteers have been an integral part of the team since the Café opened its doors in June 2013. Moira, Front of House Manager says that, “Volunteers enhance the team bringing enthusiasm, energy, exuberance, life and employment experience with them; they are valued and appreciated within our team.”

The Café is most certainly the busiest area of the Museum welcoming a diverse group of people ranging from the Perth locals to international visitors. With such a mix of visitors the conversations can be somewhat eclectic! No two days are the same, from Mother’s day bookings to local history groups, from varied dinner functions to International tour groups, from our regular daily customer to business meetings there is always a medley of activity that makes your day fly by!

Emily, Volunteer Café Assistant explains, “The stories from the Cafe customers can be fascinating and often very moving.”

If you are someone who enjoys meeting new people, being busy and providing an excellent experience to customers you will certainly enjoy being a Volunteer café assistant. We have no upper age limit to volunteering however we do ask that you are at least 16. You don’t have to be experienced in the catering environment although we do ask for a willingness to lFiona and volunteer Hilaryearn! This role offers the opportunity to learn new skills and improve your future employment prospects or to share your skills and experience with the team.

Laura, Café Supervisor, thinks, “Our volunteers are simply great! The team would not be the same without them.”

Volunteering in the Café is a vital way of supporting the legacy of the Black Watch, all profits are used to support the charitable aims of the Museum Trust.
